This creamy copycat Starbucks pumpkin cream cold foam coffee is a quick and easy homemade version of the popular fall drink. Made with simple ingredients like heavy cream, pumpkin puree, and maple syrup, it delivers a silky, thick foam that tastes better than the original.

Ingredients

Scale
  • ¼ cup heavy cream, cold
  • 2 tablespoons pumpkin puree (100% pure, not pie filling)
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 cup strong brewed coffee or 2 shots espresso, cooled slightly
  • Ice (optional, for iced version)
  • Optional garnish: cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice

Instructions

  1. Brew your coffee first. Start with 1 cup of strong coffee or 2 shots of espresso. If making iced coffee, let it cool for about 5 minutes while you prep the foam.
  2. In a small bowl or jar, add ¼ cup cold heavy cream, 2 tablespoons pumpkin puree, 1 tablespoon maple syrup, ½ teaspoon vanilla extract, ¼ teaspoon pumpkin pie spice, and a tiny pinch of salt.
  3. Using a handheld frother, whisk the mixture for about 30-45 seconds until soft peaks form. Alternatively, seal the mixture in a jar and shake vigorously for about 60 seconds.
  4. Check the consistency: the foam should be thick enough to sit on top of your coffee without immediately dissolving. If too runny, froth for another 10-15 seconds. If too thick, add a teaspoon of cream and stir gently.
  5. If making iced coffee, fill your glass with ice, leaving about an inch of space at the top. For hot coffee, skip this step and pour hot coffee directly into a mug.
  6. Slowly pour the cooled coffee over the ice, filling the glass about three-quarters full, leaving 1-2 inches of space at the top.
  7. Using a spoon, gently layer the cold foam over the back of the spoon so it floats on top of the coffee. Start with a thin layer, then add more until all foam is used.
  8. Finish with a garnish: dust a tiny pinch of cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice over the foam. Optionally, drizzle caramel or maple syrup on top.
  9. Serve immediately. Cold foam is best enjoyed right away.

Notes

Start with everything cold for best results. Do not over-whip the cream; stop at soft peaks. Use 100% pure pumpkin puree, not pumpkin pie filling. Adjust sweetness to taste. Cold foam is best made fresh and served immediately. The un-frothed mixture can be stored in the fridge for up to 2 days.
