A creamy, tangy, herb-flecked ranch dip made with cottage cheese that delivers 20 grams of protein per serving. Ready in 5 minutes, this healthy dip is perfect for snacking, meal prep, and parties.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups (480g) full-fat cottage cheese
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) buttermilk
  • 2 tablespoons fresh dill, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh chives, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried dill
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Open the cottage cheese container and give it a quick stir. Pour all of it into your blender or food processor. Do not drain the liquid.
  2. Add the buttermilk to the blender.
  3. Add the chopped fresh dill, parsley, and chives.
  4. Sprinkle in the garlic powder, onion powder, dried dill, dried parsley, salt, black pepper, and lemon juice.
  5. Blend on low speed, gradually increasing to high, for 30-45 seconds. Stop and scrape down the sides with a rubber spatula. Blend for another 20-30 seconds until completely smooth and creamy.
  6. Taste and adjust seasonings as needed (more salt, garlic, or lemon juice).
  7. Transfer the dip to a serving bowl or storage container.
  8. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow flavors to meld. Overnight is even better.
  9. Before serving, give the dip a quick stir. Garnish with extra fresh herbs and black pepper if desired.
  10. Serve cold with your favorite dippers such as vegetables, chips, or crackers.

Notes

Use full-fat cottage cheese for best texture. Let cottage cheese come to room temperature before blending for smoother results. Do not over-blend as heat from the motor can warm the dip and change texture. The dip improves after 2-3 days in the fridge. For a thinner dip (salad dressing), add extra buttermilk. For a thicker dip (spread), reduce buttermilk to 3 tablespoons. Adjust salt based on cottage cheese brand sodium levels.
