Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large apples (mix of Granny Smith and Honeycrisp)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 cup caramel candies (about 20–25 pieces)
  • 3 tablespoons heavy cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of sea salt
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup white chocolate chips
  • 1/3 cup chopped salted peanuts
  • 1/3 cup crushed pretzels
  • 1/2 cup candy toppings (chopped Snickers, Reese’s Pieces, crushed Heath bars)
  • 1/4 cup dried cranberries or raisins (optional)

Instructions

  1. Wash and dry apples. Cut into thin rounds, about 1/4-inch thick. Remove seeds and tough core pieces. Toss slices with lemon juice in a large bowl to prevent browning.
  2. Fan apple slices out on a large serving platter in a single layer, overlapping slightly.
  3. Unwrap caramel candies and place in a small saucepan with heavy cream. Heat over medium-low heat, stirring constantly, until completely melted and smooth (5-7 minutes). Remove from heat and stir in vanilla and sea salt. Let cool 2-3 minutes.
  4. Drizzle warm caramel evenly over apple slices in a zigzag pattern.
  5. Place chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until fully melted and smooth. Repeat with white chocolate chips in a separate bowl.
  6. Transfer melted chocolate to a piping bag or zip-top bag with a small corner snipped off. Drizzle over caramel-covered apples. Repeat with white chocolate.
  7. While chocolate is still wet, sprinkle chopped peanuts, crushed pretzels, candy toppings, and optional dried cranberries evenly over everything.
  8. Serve immediately with small plates and forks.

Notes

Don’t skip the lemon juice to prevent browning. Work in batches for crowds to avoid soggy apples. Keep caramel warm for easy drizzling. Toast nuts for extra flavor. Use a mix of apple varieties for best flavor and appearance. Prep all toppings before starting to assemble quickly.
