A warm, gooey baked brie topped with sweet fig jam and crunchy candied walnuts. This easy appetizer comes together in under 20 minutes and is perfect for parties, holidays, or a cozy night in.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (8-ounce) wheel of brie cheese
  • 1/3 cup fig jam
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • Pinch of sea salt (optional)
  • Crackers, crostini, or sliced baguette for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Let the brie sit at room temperature for about 10 minutes.
  2. Using a sharp knife, score the top rind of the brie in a crosshatch pattern, about 1/4 inch deep. Do not cut through the sides.
  3. Place the brie in a small baking dish or oven-safe skillet. Spoon the fig jam over the top, spreading gently to cover the surface.
  4. In a small skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the chopped walnuts and brown sugar. Stir constantly for 2-3 minutes until the sugar is melted and the walnuts are fragrant and coated. Remove from heat immediately.
  5. Spoon the candied walnuts over the jam-covered brie, pressing gently. Sprinkle with a pinch of sea salt if desired.
  6. Bake for 12-15 minutes, until the brie is soft and puffed slightly, and the center feels jiggly when shaken.
  7. Let rest for 2-3 minutes before serving. Serve immediately with crackers, crostini, or sliced baguette.

Notes

For best results, don’t skip scoring the brie—it helps it melt evenly. Toast the walnuts separately for a crunchy texture. Watch the oven closely; brie can go from perfectly melted to overdone quickly. Serve on a warm platter to keep it gooey longer. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
