This Homemade Savory Ranch Chex Mix with Fresh Herbs is the ultimate snack for game days, parties, and cozy nights. Made with real herbs like dill, parsley, and chives, it’s buttery, ranch-seasoned, and perfectly crunchy.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 9 cups Rice Chex cereal
  • 3 cups Wheat Chex cereal
  • 2 cups pretzel twists
  • 2 cups cheese crackers (e.g., Goldfish)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 packet (about 1 ounce) ranch seasoning mix
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 3 tablespoons fresh dill, finely chopped
  • 3 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh chives, finely chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper, freshly ground

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 250°F.
  2. Combine the Rice Chex, Wheat Chex, pretzels, and cheese crackers in a large roasting pan. Gently toss with your hands to distribute evenly.
  3. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter, ranch seasoning, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and onion powder until smooth.
  4. Pour the butter mixture slowly over the cereal mixture in a zigzag pattern, stirring immediately with a wooden spoon or silicone spatula. Stir gently but thoroughly until no dry spots remain (about 2-3 minutes).
  5. Bake for 45 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes. Focus on pulling the outer pieces toward the center and pushing center pieces toward the edges.
  6. During the last 10 minutes of baking, sprinkle the chopped dill, parsley, and chives over the mix. Stir gently and bake for the remaining time.
  7. Remove from the oven and let cool completely in the pan (at least 30 minutes). The crunch develops as it cools.
  8. Once cool, taste and adjust salt and pepper if needed. Give one final stir.
  9. Transfer to a serving bowl or store in an airtight container.

Notes

Don’t oversaturate the cereal; pour butter mixture slowly and stir constantly. Stir from the edges to prevent burning. Fresh herbs are key—dried herbs won’t provide the same brightness. Let the mix cool completely before storing to maintain crunch. For humid kitchens, add 5-10 minutes of baking time. Double the batch and freeze half for up to 3 months.
