These Easy Mummy Pigs in a Blanket are a quick and fun Halloween appetizer made with just three ingredients. They’re perfect for parties, movie nights, or any spooky gathering, and they disappear faster than a ghost at sunrise.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 12 mini smoked sausages or hot dogs (e.g., Lit’l Smokies)
  • 12 tablespoons cream cheese, softened
  • 12 candy eyeballs (or small dots of black food coloring)
  • Optional: Everything Bagel Seasoning or Poppy Seeds

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Unroll the crescent roll dough onto a clean cutting board. If using perforated triangles, press the seams together gently. Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, slice the dough lengthwise into thin strips (about 6-8 strips per sheet).
  3. Take one strip of dough and wrap it around a mini smoked sausage, starting at one end and winding it around, leaving a small gap at the top for the face. Don’t wrap too tightly. Place the wrapped mummy on the prepared baking sheet, seam side down.
  4. Repeat with the remaining sausages and dough strips to make about 12 mummies.
  5. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and cooked through.
  6. Let the mummies cool on the baking sheet for 1-2 minutes. While still warm, use a tiny dab of softened cream cheese to stick a candy eyeball onto the exposed sausage at the top. If using black food coloring, dot it onto the cream cheese.
  7. Serve immediately.

Notes

Don’t skip the cooling step before adding the eyes, or the candy eyeballs may melt. For best results, serve warm. To make ahead, assemble the mummies, cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate for up to 4 hours before baking. Add 1-2 minutes to baking time if cold.
