A quick and easy mocktail with tart cranberries, zesty lime, and spicy ginger beer that comes together in under 5 minutes. Perfect for any occasion, from holiday parties to lazy Saturdays.

Ingredients

Scale
  • ½ cup fresh or frozen cranberries (plus extra for garnish)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice (about 1 medium lime)
  • 6 ounces ginger beer (about ¾ cup)
  • 1 tablespoon simple syrup (optional)
  • Ice (large cubes or crushed)
  • Lime wedges or wheels (for garnish)
  • Fresh mint sprigs (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare your cranberries: Measure out ½ cup of cranberries. If using frozen, let them sit at room temperature for 5 minutes so they soften slightly. Reserve about 10-12 whole cranberries for garnish.
  2. Muddle the cranberries: Place the cranberries in the bottom of your copper mug or glass. Add the simple syrup (if using). Use your muddler or wooden spoon to gently press and twist the cranberries until they burst and release their juice. Don’t pulverize them into a paste — you want some texture. This takes about 20-30 seconds of gentle pressure.
  3. Add fresh lime juice: Squeeze 2 tablespoons of fresh lime juice directly into the glass over the muddled cranberries. Stir briefly with a spoon to combine the cranberry pulp and lime juice.
  4. Fill with ice: Add ice cubes to the glass, filling it about ¾ full. If using crushed ice, pack it in slightly.
  5. Pour the ginger beer: Slowly pour 6 ounces of ginger beer over the ice. Pour gently to preserve the carbonation.
  6. Stir gently: Use a long spoon to stir the drink 2-3 times. Don’t over-stir or you’ll lose the carbonation.
  7. Garnish and serve: Add a lime wheel to the rim of the glass. Drop a few whole cranberries into the drink. If using mint, slap the sprig between your palms and tuck it into the glass. Serve immediately with a straw if desired.

Notes

For a more intense cranberry flavor, let the muddled cranberries sit in the lime juice for 2-3 minutes before adding ice. For a lower-sugar version, use diet ginger beer and skip the simple syrup. The cranberry-lime mixture can be made up to 24 hours in advance and stored in the refrigerator.
