These spooky mummy pigs in a blanket are a quick and easy Halloween appetizer made with hot dogs and crescent roll dough, wrapped to look like little mummies. Perfect for last-minute parties, they’re ready in under 25 minutes and always a crowd-pleaser.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (8 count) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 8 hot dogs
  • Mustard seeds for eyes
  • Optional: Dipping sauce (ketchup, mustard, or ranch dressing)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cut each hot dog in half crosswise to get 16 pieces total.
  3. Open the crescent roll dough and separate into 8 triangles. Cut each triangle lengthwise into 3 long strips (about half an inch wide) to get 24 strips.
  4. Take one strip of dough and wrap it around a hot dog half, starting at one end and wrapping diagonally, leaving small gaps between the dough layers. Leave a small space near the top for the eyes.
  5. Place the wrapped mummies on the baking sheet, spacing them about an inch apart.
  6. Before baking, gently press two mustard seeds into the exposed hot dog at the top of each mummy for eyes.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and puffed.
  8. Let them cool for 2-3 minutes on the baking sheet.
  9. Transfer to a serving platter and serve plain or with dipping sauces.

Notes

Don’t overwork the dough; handle gently. For make-ahead, assemble up to 2 hours before baking and refrigerate, adding mustard seed eyes just before baking. For a gluten-free option, use gluten-free crescent roll dough. For extra crispiness, bake in an air fryer at 350°F for 6-8 minutes.
